THE MOOR, THE MIRROR
L'artista e curatrice italiana, Belinda Guerriero ha realizzato una nuova serie di opere fotografiche in risposta a due lavori letterari, Laments + Incantations e Small Divinities.
Intitolate The Moor/La Brughiera, The Mirror/Lo Specchio, queste immagini incredibilmente belle e suggestive, tratte dalle pagine dei miei testi, sono riflessioni e rifrazioni catturate da varie angolazioni. Le immagini sono state distorte attraverso uno specchio antico degli anni '30 o ’40, deteriorato e alterato nel tempo, creando straordinari effetti visivi, l’aberrazione della luce e la curvatura della stessa. Un'intelligente metafora per i luoghi antichi e abbandonati che ho descritto a parole.
Tutto ciò è una forma di discorso, una narrazione, uno scambio di idee che potrà continuare nel corso del nostro isolamento.
Italian artist and curator, Belinda Guerriero has made a series of fresh photographic works in response to two of my written sequences – Laments + Incantations, and Small Divinities.
Entitled The Moor, The Mirror, these incredibly beautiful, evocative works, taken from the pages of my chapbooks are reflections and refractions of the pages captured from a range of angles. The images are distorted through an antique mirror from the 1930’s or 40’s which has become degraded and distempered over time, creating stunning visual effects and aberrations of light and light curvature, an intelligent visual metaphor for the ancient and relict lands that I have depicted in words. This is a form of discourse, a narrative, an exchange of ideas that can be continued over the course of our isolation.
